A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
