The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
